Yet this new installment is striving to shift that dynamic.
Here comes the most recent addition in a long-standing combat FPS franchise commonly positioned as a more authentic answer to Call of Duty.
The franchise has never quite managed to rival its top opponent in terms of units sold or user base, but there are signs the recent entry could narrow the difference.
A preview weekend enabling players a chance to experience the release earlier this year achieved milestones, and the buzz leading up to its debut has been immense.
