Recent Particulars Surface About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced about the untimely deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
The Initial Report
According to a report quoting a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation applies to reports of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
