Both Deceased Students Named in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Hunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant persisted following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”
